WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Wake Forest University School of Divinity celebrated a milestone evening at its 2026 Legacy of Faith Dinner, announcing that more than $3.2 million has been raised since August 2025 to support student scholarships and the Wake Div Promise, a signature initiative that ensures financial barriers do not stand in the way of theological education and leadership formation.

2026 Wake Forest University School of Divinity Legacy of Faith Dinner celebrates continued support for the Wake Div Promise

The announcement follows a historic year of philanthropic support for the School of Divinity and reflects a growing commitment from alumni, donors, congregations, and community partners to invest in the next generation of faith leaders. The Wake Div Promise expands access to theological education by providing significant scholarship support to Master of Divinity students preparing for lives of ministry, service, and public leadership.

“Tonight’s celebration reflects a deep and shared conviction about the role theological education must play in shaping a more just and compassionate world,” said Dean of the School of Divinity and Wake Forest Professor of the Humanities Corey D. B. Walker. “At Wake Forest University School of Divinity, we are committed to forming leaders who will serve as agents of justice, compassion, and reconciliation in congregations and communities across the nation and around the globe. The extraordinary support represented during this fundraising year ensures that gifted and called students can pursue their theological education without being constrained by financial barriers.”

The Legacy of Faith Dinner gathers alumni, donors, students, and community leaders each year to celebrate the mission and impact of Wake Forest University School of Divinity. This year’s announcement underscores the expanding momentum behind the school’s distinctive approach to theological education—one rooted in intellectual rigor, theological formation, and public engagement.

The success celebrated at the 2026 Legacy of Faith Dinner builds on a year of historic philanthropic support and positions the school to continue advancing its mission of theological education in service to the common good.

Hannah McMahan King (’06, MDIV ‘09), Assistant Dean of Development, emphasized the collective effort behind the achievement.

“This remarkable generosity reflects a broad community that believes deeply in the mission of Wake Divinity,” King said. “Every gift represents an investment in students whose leadership will strengthen congregations, communities, and institutions for generations to come. The continued support we are experiencing this year demonstrates the profound confidence donors have in the transformative work happening at Wake Forest University School of Divinity.”

Since its founding, Wake Forest University School of Divinity has been committed to forming leaders for ministry and public life who are prepared to engage the most pressing moral, social, and spiritual challenges of our time. Through the Wake Div Promise, the school continues to expand opportunities for students called to lives of service, leadership, and scholarship.
