Orientation Webinars

Prior to Orientation we will host a series of brief webinars on important topics.

  • Tuesday, July 9 (Financial Aid)
  • Tuesday, July 23 (Curriculum and Class Registration), and
  • Tuesday, August 6 (Technology Resources and Information Systems)

More information and registration links for each is below. After each webinar has completed, we will post recordings and other helpful resources related to the webinar topic.

Blessed are the Financial Literate

Tuesday, July 9, 12:30 p.m.

This short webinar will feature an overview of Financial Aid at Wake Forest with our Financial Aid Advisor, Lauren Trethaway. She will cover topics such as viewing and accepting your award, in-school deferment, and budgeting. There will be an opportunity to ask questions via chat during the webinar. A webinar link will be sent a couple of days before the Webinar, and you’ll be able to log on from there.


In follow-up to the webinar, we would like to provide the following resources:

  • Resource Folder: In this folder you’ll find a recording of the webinar; an instructional video on accepting your financial aid award, reviewing your student account, etc.; and a sample budget document to help you think through how to pay for divinity school.
  • Financial Literary Resources: The Financial Aid Office has put together a helpful page with links to CashCourse (which was referenced in the webinar), entrance counseling, how to check your current student loan status, and much more.
  • Additional Aid Resources: The Office of Admissions continually updates a list of additional aid resources that you can reference throughout the year. Though some deadlines may have already passed, make a note for next year and apply for additional aid as you’re able.
  • One-on-One Sessions: Don’t forget! During New Student Orientation Lauren will be available for one-on-one sessions. Sign ups will be available on our first day, Tuesday, August 20.
  • studentloans.gov: Thinking about borrowing and need to complete loan entrance counseling or a Master Promissory Note (MPN)? Studentloans.gov is where you’ll do this.

Tuesday, July 23, 12:30 p.m.

This short webinar will feature a guide to course registration and a curriculum overview with our Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Neal Walls, and our Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr. Joshua Canzona. They will cover topics such as creating a class schedule, registering for classes, and keeping track of degree requirements. There will be an opportunity to ask questions via chat during the webinar. A webinar link will be sent a couple of days before the Webinar, and you’ll be able to log on from there.


In follow-up to the webinar, we would like to provide the following resources:

  • Resource Folder: In this folder you’ll find a recording of the webinar and a copy of the presentation utilized that outlines the MDiv curriculum and program opportunities.
  • Academic Resources: Your one-stop-shop for all things academic life while at the School of Divinity will be the Academic Resources webpage. It contains course schedules, course descriptions, academic calendar and bulletin, degree audits, and appropriate forms and policies.

This short webinar will feature a guide to information systems and technology with our Assistant Dean of Admissions and Strategic Communications, C. Mark Batten. He will cover topics such as free software access, using Sakai, printing at WFU, and navigating the Wake Div website resources. There will be an opportunity to ask questions via chat during the webinar. A webinar link will be sent a couple of days before the Webinar, and you’ll be able to log on from there.
