After the conclusion of New Student Orientation and prior to the Fall 2017 semester, the Academic Skills Office will offer the following opportunities for you to be equipped with ways to survive and thrive in your academic work at the School of Divinity.

Tuesday, August 22

10:00 a.m. // Reading Strategies
You will be expected to do A LOT of reading while you are in Divinity School. Learn how to make the most of your reading time so that you can understand and remember what you read.

11:00 a.m. // Time Management and Organizational Practices
This workshop features tips and skills for managing your time as you work to balance classes, work, and all of your other commitments. You will also learn best practices for getting and staying organized throughout each semester.

10:00 a.m. // Paper Formats and Citation Basics
If the thought of creating a bibliography makes you want to run and hide, or if you are new to citing sources in Chicago style, attend this workshop to understand how to cite sources in a research paper and how to format your paper and bibliography appropriately.

11:00 a.m. // Writing Skills and Practices
Learn about how to plan and organize papers as well as how to sharpen your writing skills. This workshop focuses on the craft of writing with special attention to developing strong thesis statements.
