Making Theological Education AffordableFor most students, educational costs are a major factor in determining where to attend Divinity School or seminary. The Divinity School of Wake Forest University is committed to assisting students in meeting the basic educational and living expenses incurred while enrolled in the Master of Divinity program. The University's commitment to supporting a full-time Master of Divinity program is evidenced in the comprehensive nature of the financial aid program.
Institutional Financial Aid Offered in the form of merit and need-based fellowships, scholarships and grants, institutional aid is administered by the Divinity School's Office of Admissions & Student Services. Merit-based awards are offered to admitted Master of Divinity candidates who demonstrate high academic achievement and outstanding promise for ministry. With the exception of the Wait Fellowships, all merit awards are made by the faculty on the basis of the applicant's personal statement, academic transcripts, and letters of support from references. In some cases a personal interview may be required. All merit-based awards are renewable for up to three years of full-time study. Merit scholarships range from 25% to 100% of tuition. Many students qualify for more than one merit award. Need-based scholarships and grants are awarded on the basis of information applicants provide on the FAFSA form (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the Wake Forest Divinity School PROFILE form. Both forms are available from the Office of Admissions & Student Services.
Non-Institutional AidThe Divinity School works closely with non-institutional sources, including churches and foundations, to provide students with information on application procedures, qualifications, and deadlines. Most non-institutional aid is awarded after a candidate enrolls in the Master of Divinity program. For additional information, contact the Office of Admissions & Student Services.
Applying for Financial Aid.Applicants to the Master of Divinity program are automatically considered for merit-based financial aid on the relative strength of their application. Applicants wishing to be considered for the Wait Fellowship should contact the Office of Admissions Student Services and request nomination forms and process information. To be considered for a Wait Fellowship, an applicant must be nominated.
