11:00am - 12:30pmDescription
You are about to follow your calling to serve the church. Your education has prepared you to teach, preach and offer hope and comfort. But what can you expect when you meet with your first pastoral search committee and you have to negotiate your first pastoral contract? Creating a clear foundation for compensation and benefits strengthens the pastor-church relationship and will set you on the course toward a healthy stewardship of your financial life. Join us as we share about:
- Preparing for your first call
- Understanding employment packages
- Tax advantages for clergy
- Setting a firm financial foundation in your personal life
All are invited to a great opportunity to learn about how to tend to our financial lives in ministry. We are grateful to have Jim Hylton, an alum from Wake Forest School of Divinity in 2006, leading us in this presentation and conversation. In addition to his M.Div., Jim has an MBA, is a Certified Church Administrator, and currently serves as the Business Administration Coordinator with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina.
About Pathways in Ministry
Pathways in Ministry is an initiative of the School of Divinity that provides workshops and panel discussions for students to be exposed to the many paths of engaging in professional ministry, to build skills to aid their search for ministry placement, and to prepare for the demands of ministry by learning important personal, professional, and spiritual practices.
