St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Richmond, Virginia, is a thriving community that is experiencing renewal through a variety of non-traditional ministries, as well as a deepening engagement with ancient and traditional Christian practices.  We are seeking to become a hub for youth, a community where adolescents, youth, and young adults have a strong sense of welcome, belonging, and affirmation, regardless of their religious affiliation.  The successful candidate for Director of Youth Ministries (grades 6-12) at St. Stephen’s may be lay or ordained, but he or she must be a self-starter with a passion for young people.  He or she will be a spiritually centered, personally grounded, committed Christian, who is open to ways in which God’s Spirit might be moving outside the margins of traditional religious institutions.  At the same time, the successful candidate will share an enthusiasm for ways in which traditional religious institutions such as St. Stephen’s can become beacons of hospitality, meaningful service, and inclusive spiritual offerings that promote what Jesus called “abundant life.”  The successful candidate will be a team player who is eager to work collegially with a dynamic and creative staff.  Finally, given the size and complexity of St. Stephen’s Church, the successful candidate must have good organizational or administrative skills.  If you are interested, please contact Janet Allen, Associate for Development and Operations, jallen@saintstephensrichmond.net; (804) 288-2867, Ext 305.
